Nu Sigma Nu Medical Fraternity offers comfort, convenience, opportunities
to relax, and plenty of fun, not to mention a incredible support network
of medical students from all four classes as well as students from many
other graduate programs. What more could you ask for?!?
The Nu Sigma Nu house is co-ed graduate student co-op
located in a relatively new $2 million building providing
affordable housing for thirty-four nifty graduate students. While the majority
of people living in the house are indeed medical students, current residents
include students from the schools pharmacy, law, business, engineering,
pharmacology and social work. All medical students are guaranteed their
very own room, equipped with central heat and air conditioning, high-speed
internet access, desk, bed and plenty of closet space...all for perhaps
the most inexpensive rate you’ll find anywhere in Ann Arbor!
Nu Sigma Nu is located directly across from the beautiful Nichols Arboretum
on Geddes Avenue - fifteen minutes by foot from the Medical School (five
by bike) and only three blocks from central campus. We offer free laundry
facilities and free parking for all residents (which is something of
a premium in Ann Arbor).
Nu Sigma Nu has a distinguished history, and continues to attract the
best and brightest medical students. Alumni of Nu Sigma Nu include men
who have shaped American medical education (including several holding
prestigious positions here at the hospital), have written classic textbooks,
and who have served in medical leadership positions throughout the world.
Members continuously score in the top percentages on their Boards and
are accepted into some of the best residencies in the country.
How is
this possible you ask? Simple: advice and assistance received from upperclassmen
and alumni (including old notes and books), the use of our extensive
medical library and well-equipped computer room, and the ease of forming
study groups with housemates are invaluable to all of us.
Perhaps the biggest advantage of living at Nu Sigma Nu is that you will
be surrounded by people who, like you, are here to do well in school
as well as enjoy themselves. You will find that the guys will respect
your study time, yet when you some free time there is always somebody
to join you for a run, shoot a game of pool, sink a few at the bar,
or just chill with a DVD on our massive big-screen TV. In addition,
every Monday evening we have a free house dinner, which is a great time
for members to get together and socialize with friends. More than a
housing cooperative than a true fraternity, Nu Sigma Nu does NOT require
pledging or social involvement, and you can be as involved as much or
as little as you want
We at Nu Sigma Nu know that living at, and belonging to, a medical fraternity
will enhance your medical school experience, both academically and socially.
So take a look around this website, see what living at Nu Sigma Nu has
to offer, and hopefully we’ll be seeing you in the fall. If you
have any questions or want to stop by for a visit, contact one of our
all-star house officers listed on our home page.
The only task we ask housemates to perform is a weekly co-op duty that
is assigned at the beginning of the year. Such jobs include kitchen
duty one day a week, to be split between you and another house member,
library maintenance, and other minor chores that take minimal time,
but keep the house looking great and your experience living here optimal!
