Mission
La Celebración Latina is a celebratory program that highlights Latino graduates at the University of Michigan. The mission of the program is not only to recognize the achievements and cultural significance of the Latino community, but also to give incentive to future students to reach the ultimate goal of graduation. The purpose of La Celebración Latina is to celebrate our graduates, as well as to show respect to everyone who helped them make this wonderful achievement, including family members, friends, faculty, staff and administrators.
History
On Friday, April 28, 2000, over 300 graduates, their families and friends, University faculty, staff and administrators joined together in celebration for the inaugural year of La Celebración Latina. The event was a culmination of efforts by students, primarily, and also of various University of Michigan units, to coordinate a festivity that acknowledged the achievements of Latino graduates.
