Simple statement verbs are the easiest verbs to learn first. They are useful and serve as the foundation for much of what comes later.
Be sure you understand the definition of these verbs so that when you attempt to make a statement you know right away whether these are the prefixes and suffixes to use.
The table below was created over the course of one semester and is based on the feedback of over 100 second-language learners over age 18. Obviously, their needs and experience influenced the chart and its contents, but simpler versions of the same chart can be used with learners as young as third grade.
Use the table below to "make simple one verb, no object sentences."
Remember:
- the action is done by one person and involves no one and nothing else
- there are 4 prefix choices depending on when the action takes place (use only one)
- the pronoun itself is not used
