THROUGH THE HAZE:
"Don't HAZE the Blue."
The
University of Michigan is committed to fostering
an academic and social environment that
contributes to the success of students.
Our desire is to strengthen student communities
in ways that promote healthy behaviors that
lead to academic success.
Concerning
hazing, the U-M community has zero tolerance
for this behavior. It is simply unacceptable
and contrary to our aspirations to promote
a safe and healthy living and learning environment,
one in
which students can be fully engaged academically
and participate in a vibrant student community.
Working
with the Michigan Student Assembly, Residence
Halls Association, Office of Student Conflict
Resolution, Department of Athletics, Office
of Greek Life, the four Greek Life councils
and other
members of the community, U-M implemented
the following campus-wide, anti-hazing educational
awareness campaign to inform students about
the
State of Michigan’s new hazing law
(“Garrett’s Law”), which
came into effect August 18, 2004. The advertisements
are currently running throughout the campus
community.
