Political Debates 6-2-09

The political debates were the first major event PSA held in 2009. PSA was delighted to
have Professor Juan Cole come and give a short lecture about Pakistan. He spoke about
different regions of Pakistan and shed light about the different types of people that
call Pakistan their home.
He then ended with the recent political situation of Pakistan.
The lecture followed an interactive discussion involving the audience members and
Mr. Cole and many important topics were discussed during this time with great participation
from the crowd.

Movie Night -Jinnah 19-3-09

"Few individuals significantly alter the course of history. Fewer still modify the map
of the world. Hardly anyone can be credited with creating a nation. Mohammad Ali Jinnah
did all three" - Stanley Wolpert
PSA held its second movie night of the academic year, airing the critically aclaimed movie
about the life of Mohammad Ali Jinnah which drew a reasonably large crowd. After the movie,
there was a short disscussion with the crowd.

Fall 2008

Mass Meeting 18-9-08

The year kicked off for PSA with its mass meeting which was held at Palmer Commons.
The new board was introduced to the members and this was a great way for incoming
freshmen and the new grad students to meet the rest of the Pakistani community at
UofM. There was a short presentation followed by "Musical Chairs" which was a fun
ice breaker.

Chaand Raat & Chai Time 30-9-2008

The end of September brought the much awaited eid to the Muslim community at UofM.
PSA had its first Chai Time which was held on Chaand Raat. This Chai time was held
at Hamza's and Usman's apartment and like always was a good break from the hectic
courseload.

Movie Night 8-10-08

PSA had its first movie night on campus this Fall semester and the famous Pakistani
movie, Khuda Kay Liye was aired at the Michigan Union. The highly controversial film
gained much appreciation from viewers here at UofM and was an encouragment for PSA to
screen more Pakistani movies at the University in the future.

Soccer Tournament 1&2-11-08

PSA's soccer tournament was a great way for our soccer enthusiasts in the
Association to get together and play a competitive tournament. This year, five
teams signed up and after two days of intense soccer, the Grad students were triumphuant.

Chai Time 20-11-08

By the end of November, most of the PSA members were completely pre-occupuied
with their studies and desperately needed a break.
PSA's second Chai Time of the year could not have been at a better time. It gave the
Pakistani community a chance to relax for a while. Again, Hamza and Usman were gracious
hosts and organized an awesome gathering.

PSA Live 3-12-08

PSA's last and biggest event of the Fall semester was PSA Live 2008, held at the University
Club in the Michigan Union. It was a concert organized to raise funds for the victims of
the Balocihistan Earthquake which took place late October that year. Numerous bands of different
genres put on a vivid display of art and music whilst able raise a subsatantial amount. Fall 2007
