The Eddie L. Boyd Scholarship Fund
To honor the long and distinguished career
of Associate Professor of Pharmacy Eddie L. Boyd, friends, former
students, and colleagues inside and outside the College of Pharmacy have
launched the Eddie L. Boyd Scholarship Fund. When fully funded, the Eddie L. Boyd Scholarship will be awarded annually
to one or more deserving U-M PharmD students of good academic standing
who demonstrate financial need. This spring, the College asked all BSPharm and PharmD alumni who matriculated
at the College during Boyds 30-year career to consider making a
gift to the Eddie L. Boyd Scholarship Fund. Alumni response has been tremendous, explains Peter Niedbala, the Colleges director of advancement and external relations. Every dollar becomes a permanent part of our endowment and will benefit students for generations to come. The Eddie L. Boyd Scholarship Fund will remain open to new donations as long as people care to give. Other Honored Faculty Funds Scholarship funds honoring faculty serve two important purposes: They celebrate the lives and achievements of eminent individuals while simultaneously benefiting current PharmD or PhD students.Three such fund drives are now in progress: the Eddie L. Boyd Scholarship
Fund (described above); the James W. Richards Scholarship Fund;
and the Leroy B. Townsend Medicinal Chemistry Graduate Student Education
Fund. To find out how you can make a gift to any of these worthy efforts, please contact the U-M College of Pharmacy Office of Advancement at 734-764-7350; e-mail: pharm.advance@umich.edu; or write the Advancement Office at 428 Church Street, Ann Arbor, MI 48109-1065.
