General Qualifications for Admission
University. The University of Michigan admits qualified applicants on a competitive basis. Qualified applicants are high school graduates with satisfactory scholastic and personal records who are able to do the course work of the University. As a tax-assisted institution, the University shows preference in admitting Michigan residents.

College of Pharmacy.
The College admits students who have completed at least two years of study at a liberal arts college. (Those who want to complete this preliminary work at the University of Michigan should apply to the admissions office on the campus — Ann Arbor, Dearborn, or Flint — where they wish to attend classes.) The College recommends that prospective students become as proficient as possible in written and spoken English, mathematics, and the biological and chemical sciences. At the same time, students should get as broad a general education as possible.

Admission requirements for the College of Pharmacy depend partly on the specific program, as described further on in this bulletin. Each set of requirements is designed to ensure success in that program. The College admits applicants who appear most likely to succeed in the College. Judgments about one’s potential for success are based on evidence of ability to do the course work in the College, academic records from schools attended, health care experience, Pharmacy College Admission Test (PCAT) scores, and signs of social adjustment, initiative, responsibility, and study habits.

Most students who meet their educational goals at the College of Pharmacy have a strong interest in college work, good work habits, and a desire to succeed. They know how to manage their personal affairs. They also have benefited from having taken properly selected high school and college courses.

Application materials for bachelors degree and Pharm.D. programs are available at the University’s Undergraduate Admissions Office Website: www.admissions.umich.edu. Completed application forms and all related credentials (with the exception of letters of recommendation) must be sent to the University’s Admissions Office.

All Pharm.D. applicants are required to submit two letters of recommendation with their application as well as a recommendation form, found on the University’s Undergraduate Admissions Office Website: www.admissions.umich.edu/applying/forms.html. These letters should be sent directly to the College of Pharmacy, Pharm.D. Admissions, University of Michigan, 428 Church St., Ann Arbor, MI 48109- 1065. Students are admitted to B.S. and Pharm.D. degree programs only for the fall term.
