1st Annual Fiji Rivalry Run Against Cancer
On November 20, 2004 , the Alpha Phi Colony of Fraternity of Phi Gamma Delta at the University of Michigan in conjunction with the Omicron Deutron Colony at the Ohio State University will host our first annual “FIJI Run”. On this weekend, both fraternities will come together to overcome one of the greatest rivalries in sports by running a football from “The Big House” in Ann Arbor, MI into the “Horse Shoe” in Columbus, Ohio – a 186-mile trek. This event is being held to raise money for The American Cancer Society. The ACS was chosen as the beneficiary because there are brothers at both fraternity colonies who have fought cancer themselves and survived. Each brother feels a personal tie to the ACS and the battle against cancer. Therefore, our personal goal is to raise a total of $20,000.
To Local Businesses: We are asking local businesses throughout Metro Detroit to sponsor this event. With a donation, please note that your company’s name or logo will appear on the t-shirts worn during the run from Ann Arbor to Columbus , on banners that will be mounted to the support vehicles, as well as on several other locations. We anticipate a great deal of media coverage for this event, which means our message and your advertisements will reach over 200,000 sports fans. Furthermore, the top 10 companies with the largest donations will be highly publicized in University of Michigan ’s newspapers and possibly in Ohio State ’s publications as well. A great deal of time and planning has been put into this event and our goal cannot be achieved without the support of our business community. We are grateful for any donation your business is willing to provide, and hope that you will embrace this opportunity to be a part of our efforts to support cancer research and develop stronger ties within our community.
