Claudia Jayne Baker
On Thursday, November 22, 2007, Claudia Jayne Baker passed away, after a battle with an aggressive form of leukemia at the University of Michigan Medical Center. Claudia was born in Ann Arbor, MI on February 4, 1955 to James and Gwendolyn (Calvert) Baker. Claudia attended grade school in Ann Arbor, and graduated from Ann Arbor Pioneer High in 1973. She earned an Associate Degree from Washtenaw Community College in Culi-nary Arts, and a Bachelors Degree from Eastern Michigan University in Hotel Restaurant Management. Claudia is survived by her mother, Gwendolyn Calvert Baker of Sarasota, FL; her children, Marshall Eugene James and Amanda Jayne Baker, both of Ann Arbor, MI; a loving grandchild, MiKayla Rearielle Coats; one sister, JoAnn Elizabeth Baker Gomez of Ypsilanti, MI and one brother, James Grady Baker Jr. of Sarasota, FL. Claudia is also survived by her grandmother, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her father James Grady Baker Sr. Visitation will be held at Nie Family Funeral Home, 2400 Carpenter Rd. on Monday, November 26 from 4-6 pm with a funeral service following at 6 pm with Rev. Alfred D. Daniel officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Research Center at the University of Michigan Medical Center.
