The Phi Rho Community: Phi Rho Sigma is more than just
a place to live-it quickly becomes your home, and its members your
family. We are a diverse group hailing from all over the country
with many different backgrounds and interests. Because you live with
students from other classes, there's always someone to help you
decide which books to buy, where to do rotations, how the residency
match works, etc. Within the medical school, Phi Rho members are
involved in most activities or interest groups. In addition, many grad students
from other schools live at Phi Rho. They come from the Economy,
Natural Resources, Naval Architecture and Law Schools. If you dont want to talk
medicine constantly (and who would?), these guys and girls are great for enriching your
medical school years in other ways.

Phi Rho also offers several competitive intramural sports teams
year-round. "Coffeehouse," where we parody each others quirky habits in short
skits, is an annual tradition. Each month, we invite important faculty members
from the U of M Medical School to join us for dinner and
conversation. In addition, Phi Rho is famous for three enormous parties (the Jell-O shot,
the Progressive, and the Black & White parties), widely renowned as the
best med school functions all year.
"I chose Phi Rho for the convenience," says Richard
(Class of 2005), "but I stayed because of the friends I've made and the
times I've had."
