This taxon has a liear-elliptical to eliptical valve and the ends are rostrate to rostrate-capitate. The central area is a broad, transverse fascia and does not reach the margins of the valve. The striae are distinctly radiateat the center and feebly at the ends. The striae are coursely lineate and are shortened around the central area. This taxon differs from the nominate variety by the larger central area (Patrick and Reimer 1966).
