Puerto Rican Association Constitution

PREAMBLE
The primary focus of the Puerto Rican Association is to promote interest while facilitating communication and friendship between the Boricua community.
 
ARTICLE I. NAME
Puerto Rican Association
 
ARTICLE II. PURPOSE
Section 1. The purpose of the Puerto Rican Association is to spread knowledge, facilitate friendship and celebrate the Puerto Rican culture.
 
ARTICLE III. MEMBERSHIP

Section 1. Any person that is Puerto Rican or wishes to be part of this group is welcome to this association at anytime.

Section 2. Anyone that wishes to become a member can attend any meeting at any time and request to join. The Puerto Rican Association does not discriminate because of race, creed, sex, color, or finances, insofar as the member is willing to work to promote the atmosphere of the association.

Section 3. In the case of voluntary withdrawal of membership, dues may be refunded upon request if due before the half of the semester.

 
ARTICLE IV. OFFICERS
Section 1. President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, Advertisement, Public Relations, Others upon request.
 
ARTICLE V. OPERATIONS

Section 1. All student members shall be eligible for the offices of President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Secretary, Advertisement, Public Relations, and Others.

Section 2. Officers are elected at the end of each academic year. The members of the club will elect the President and Vice President. The old officers board will elect all other positions before the end of the academic year.

Section 3. Officers will assume their positions before the end of the academic year.
 
ARTICLE VI. FINANCES

Section 1. The organization will finance its activities through membership dues and special fundraising events.

Section 2. The President, Vice-President and treasures are the main people in charge of the association’s finances. 
 
ARTICLE VII. AMENDMENTS

Section 1. A written proposal shall be required before voting on an amendment.

Section 2. Any member of the association may propose an amendment.

Section 3. There shall be no specified time between the proposal of an amendment and the voting on it. This constitution may be amended at any time through a unanimous vote of officers.
 
ARTICLE VIII. REMOVAL OF MEMBERSHIP

Section 1. Should an officer fail to fulfill their assigned duties and/or fail to work toward the goals of will be subject to removal.

Section 2. Removal of officers is accomplished by unanimous decision of remaining officers. The president can be removed only through unanimous decision of all officers and members and the approval of the Vice-President

Section 3. A member who has failed to pay their dues might be subject to removal from the association. Dues payment can be waived in the event of financial distress, as approved by the president and treasurer. A member that has failed to obey all rules or keep proper conduct in the University community might be subject to removal.

Section 4. The member will be notified before hand and will have the opportunity to explain his/her situation to the officer’s board.

 
ARTICLE IX. BY-LAWS
 
ARTICLE X. REGISTRATION RENEWAL
Section 1. Registration renewal will be done during the first two weeks of the fall semester and all dues most be paid by the designated date establish by the officers board.  
 
ARTICLE XI. STATEMENT OF COMPLIANCE
Section 1. The Puerto Rican Association has read and fully complies with the University’s policies.
