Unitary Task

* Division of Labor is impossible

Examples:
    - jury decisions
    - tug of war
    - a capella concert

* There are 3 types of Unitary Task
 

Additive Task

* When all group members perform the same job and group performance is a sum of individual performance

Examples:
    - relay race
    - class average on the test
    - barn raising

* Social Loafing leads to poor group performance
 

Conjunctive Task

* Group performance is disproportionately dependent on the weakest member

Examples:
    - a musical trio
    - mountain climbing group
    - circus performers

* One bad performer can bring the whole group down
 

Disjunctive Task

* Group performance is disproportionately dependent on the strongest member

Examples:
    - a group problem set
    - college quiz bowl
    - relay race from ìBreaking Awayî

* One good performer can bring the whole group up
