EXAM 1 GRADE DISTRIBUTION

 

I. How is Exam 1 scored?

30 mulitple choice questions x 2 points each = 60 points total

4 short answers x 10 points each = 40 points total

TOTAL EXAM 1 SCORE= 100 POINTS

if your GSI posts the Multiple choice scores as out of 30, you need to double your MC score first (so that it is out of 60), add that to your short answer score (out of 40) , to get your TOTAL SCORE (out of 100).

 

II. What is the letter grade that correspond to my score?

We will add up all your scores at the end of the semester (from Exam 1 and 2, group project and calss participation), and use that final score to determine your letter grade. At the meantime, here is a scale you can use to guage your performance on Exam 1:

91-100 A

87-90.5 A-

83-86.6 B+

79-82.5 B

75-78.5 B-

71-74.5 C+

67-70.5 C

63-66.5 C-

59-62.5 D+

55-58.5 D

51-54.5 D-

below 50 F

 

III. What is the mean and standard deviation of Exam I?

The mean score is 75.5. The standard deviation is 11.29. The highest score on the exam is 98.
