EXAM 2 GRADE DISTRIBUTION

 

I. How is Exam 2 scored?

35 mulitple choice questions x 2 points each = 70 points total

2 short answers x 15 points each = 30 points total

TOTAL EXAM 2 SCORE= 100 POINTS

 

if your GSI posts the Multiple choice scores as out of 35, you need to double your MC score first (so that it is out of 70), add that to your short answer score (out of 30) , to get your TOTAL SCORE (out of 100).

 

II. What is the letter grade that correspond to my score?

We will add up all your scores at the end of the semester (from Exam 1 and 2, group project and class participation), and use that final score to determine your letter grade. At the meantime, here is a scale you can use to gauge your performance on Exam 2:

above 85 A

81-84.5 A -

77-80.5 B+

73-76.5 B

69-72.5 B -

65-68.5 C+

61-64.5 C

57-60.5 C -

53-56.5 D+

49-52.5 D

40-48.5 D -

below 40 F

 

III. What is the mean and standard deviation of Exam 2?

The mean score is 71, and the median (50th percentile) is 72. The standard deviation is 11. The highest score on the exam is 93.
