Develop a public service campaign about a particular public health issue (e.g. smoking, drug abuse, AIDS, lack of exercise, etc.).

Within this campaign, develop a 5 minute video on VHS tape to be viewed in class. Be prepared to present your video and your rationale to the class in a 15 minute presentation. Along with your video, give a presentation to the class that addresses the following:

Provide some background information and prevalence statistics for your particular public health problem.

Define the target population of your campaign. Be sure to provide a rationale for choosing this group.

Define the goal(s) of your intervention (e.g.. attitude change, behavior change, education) and how you believe your campaign will achieve the goal(s).

Describe other efforts necessary for the resolution of the public health problem and how your campaign fits in with these efforts?

Reserving Video Equipment

Camcorders (VHS) can be borrowed via LS&A Media Services at room 1051 Friese Building (763-1104). Video-editing equipment is also available. Technicians are available weekdays from 9-5 to help you with the video-editing equipment. Be sure to use VHS formatted tapes. Additional camcorders can also be borrowed from LS&A Media services in room G-160 Angell Hall (763-5158). To be safe, you should probably call in advance and reserve the camcorders.
