The quiz club conducted its Fall Quiz festival on 30th October. The
quizzes started at 11 AM in the morning, everyone having enjoyed an extra
hour of sleep, thanks to the transition from Daylight saving time. The
festival kicked off with the General Quiz, conducted by Dinky and
Raghu(with Raghu disclaiming responsibility for all the geeky questions).
The questions covered a wide variety of topics, ranging from Stone Cold
Steve Austin to "Yakka foob mog. Grug pubbawup zink wattoom gazork.
Chumble spuzz."
After that, came one of the main attractions of the day, the pizza,
delivered by our resident pizza delivery boy, Hirak. Once the tired
participants had consumed their well-deserved meal, there was the India
Quiz, conducted by Hirak and Arvind Rao. The quiz introduced a new system
of evaluating the quizzing abilities of the participants- their Rao
number(for details, you may contact Arvind Rao himself). The questions
were framed in an interesting way, with the participants being encouraged
to "think Rao" to crack them. For example, try and connect
Mallika Sherawat, Sylvester Stallone and Filmfare. Go figure! The last
quiz of the day was the Literature and Entertainment Quiz, conducted by
Mekhala and Amritha. Another new sytem was introduced in this quiz, with
an "RG" round, in which teams were given a chance to reduce
other teams points by passing their direct question on to some other
team. The quiz questions also reflected the morbid taste of the
quizmasters, with a fair number of questions being on how various famous
people died- turtles falling on people's heads, bladders bursting and so
on. The day was wrapped up with a group photo of all the participants
and the sole audience member. But the fun was not quite over yet. Hirak
announced the awards for the festival in his mail next day, with Mr.
Ranga grabbing the most coveted award of the "Best Storyteller"
for his long-winded and fundoo, but unfortunately wrong answers. The
consolation prizes went to Rao and Shiva for their "Peeping Tom"
answer(the actual answer was Doubting Thomas!),Raghu and Akshat for their
brilliant teamwork by which Raghu helped Akshat overcome his shyness and
Raghu and Dinky for the best photo moment of the day.
As for the actual quiz results, they were as follows-
