To access GAO reports as FULL TEXT ASCII electronic files from the Government Printing Office (GPO) Access via a WAIS (Wide Area Information Search) database, follow these steps:

Note: PDF (Portable Document Format) files are available only via WWW or a WAIS client.

Via WWW:

1) Go to: http://thorplus.lib.purdue.edu/gpo/

2) Select GAO database (near bottom of 2nd screen),

3) perform search for document(s). For example, a KEYWORD search on a subject: "Welfare Reform", OR a KEYWORD search on a report number:> reportnum="HEHS-95-58" (must use quotes in searches).

4) use the "m" command to mail the file to yourself.

2) login as > gao (must be lower case);
