Michigan Rowing: The Boathouse

The 6,000 square foot Michigan Rowing Boathouse, built in 1999, sits on the shore of Belleville Lake. Michigan Rowing particularly is fortunate that their Boathouse not only is their practice but also their race facility -- unlike many collegiate rowing programs, Michigan races where it practices.

Michigan's Boathouse provides rowers and coaches with two large bays to store and maintain Michigan's racing and practice shells and equipment, two offices, a fully-equipped training room, a locker room, and a large classroom for team meetings and film analysis. The Boathouse also contains a great room that features the Wall of Champions, showcasing photos of Michigan Rowing National Scholar Athletes and All-Americans. Adjacent to the Boathouse is a wet well that houses three coaches' launches and a patrol boat from the local sheriff's department. On the roof of the wet well is a parquet deck, often used for race-day team meals and celebrations.

The Michigan Rowing Boathouse sits on the shore of the 1,220 acre Belleville Lake, the largest inland lake in Wayne County.
