Eleven years ago, Michigan Rowing emerged as a varsity sport at the University of Michigan. Since 1996, Michigan Rowing has produced 18 CRCA National Scholar-Athletes, 17 All-America First Team and 4 All-America Second Team Athletes, 4 Big Ten Rowers of the Year, 3 Big Ten Freshmen of the Year, 23 All-Big Ten First Team and 18 All-Big Ten Second Team athletes, 138 Academic All-Big Ten Athletes, 5 World Champions, and 2 Olympians. 15 Michigan Rowers have rowed competitively either for Team USA or Team Canada, 21 Michigan Rowers have been invited to U.S. or Canadian selection camps, and 8 Michigan Rowers have gone on to become collegiate or high school rowing coaches. Student-athletes who row for the Michigan Rowing Program also have received more than 303 University of Michigan Athletic Academic Achievement Awards.
