RSG Committees
RSG Committees are formed to
allow members to focus on a core aspect of RSG function. Some of these are
permanent and necessarily must be staffed (e.g. Budgetary, Academic) while
others are formed by RSG members to address pressing issues for graduate
students that are brought to our attention. In the past this has involved
housing, whereas current efforts involve the formation and functioning of the
Transportation Committee.
Appointments Committee
The Appointments Committee
represents RSG and Rackham graduate students on different committees and student
groups where representative input is required.
Recent participation
includes the Michigan Student Assembly, Conflict Resolution and Diversity
Blueprints.
Members: Carmen McCallum and
Katie Mason
Budgetary Committee
The Budgetary Committee
oversees all funding applications submitted by UM student groups to RSG (see
funding). The Committee can independently approve
funding under $700. For higher amounts, the Committee must present the proposal
to all RSG members and approval is subject to a majority vote.
Members: Katie Mason
(Chair), Carmen McCallum, Robert Gillezeau, Rosalind Oti and Gwynne Morrissey
Academics Committee
The Academics Committee
represents graduate student concerns as it relates to classes, enrollment,
credits, etc. Ongoing work in this regard is mostly focused on a proposal for a
more reasonable credit-rating and seating plan for graduate students while
purchasing season tickets to UM athletics events such as football, basketball
and hockey.
Members: Andres Tamez

Social Committee
The Social Committee
organizes and staffs all events organized by RSG geared towards enhanced
interaction between graduate students across different programs. Previous events
included fall picnic, dodgeball tourney, ice skating, bowling night and speed
dating. Upcoming
events include happy hours, end of term breakfast and ice cream socials.
