The AEC was established by Senate Assembly at its 25 October 2004 meeting after the University Senate action on 15 March 2004 charging the Senate Assembly to create a standing committee to be chaired by the Secretary of the University Senate and to be responsible for the following:

• Development of the Evaluation Questionnaires
• Implementation of the evaluation process as a web-based procedure with the first evaluations to be carried out in the Fall of 2004
• Reporting the results to the faculty and the Board of Regents
