Faculty Governance Update to the Regents

THE UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN
REGENTS COMMUNICATION

May 2000

Recent Activities

At the April 17 Senate Assembly meeting, a discussion was held on the issues of academic freedom and a hostile environment. Professors Wilfred Kaplan, Robert Megginson, and David Velleman made presentations to frame the discussion and many Assembly members contributed their views as well.

After many discussions with Vice-President Robert Kasdin and with Associate Vice-Presidents Hank Baier and Pat Cunningham, SACUA conducted a series of parking surveys of the University parking structures and solicited comments from faculty concerning enforcement options. The results of these various studies have been sent to the appropriate Executive Officers.
