Faculty Governance Update to the Regents

Recent Activities

As was announced in previous communications to the Regents, SACUA membership and leadership changed on May 1. The current SACUA has spent the month of May concentrating on organizational tasks and preparing for its annual long-range planning Retreat scheduled for June 12. Continuing into the summer months, the Chair of SACUA will meet with many of the Chairs of the executive officer advisory committees to coordinate faculty governance efforts for the upcoming year.

Upcoming Events

A. CESF REPORT TO THE REGENTS

On June 15, Professor Rudi Lindner, Chair of the Committee on the Economic Status of the Faculty (CESF), will present the annual report of the committee to the Regents.

B. SACUA RETREAT

SACUA will hold its annual planning Retreat on June 12 at the home of Professor Jackie Lawson, Chair of SACUA. President Lee Bollinger and Provost Nancy Cantor will participate in a portion of the long-range planning session of the Retreat. Potential topics to be prioritized at the Retreat are: 1) faculty compensation guidelines, 2) parking, 3) the role of athletics and academics, 4) tenure, 5) electronic privacy, and 6) intellectual property rights
