Recent Activities:   During the month of August, SACUA continued a discussion with Provost Courant that has now resulted in the decision to create a central faculty Ombuds position.  SACUA is grateful to Provost Courant for his willingness to create the position as well as for General Counsel Krislov's assistance.  Also in August, SACUA considered Senate Assembly's expressed desire to conduct a faculty opinion poll of AdvancePCS prescription drug benefit service.

Upcoming Events:   September 29 - President Coleman will address Senate Assembly at the Assembly's first meeting of the year.

                             September 30 - President Coleman and Provost Courant will speak at the annual luncheon for Senate Assembly committee members and the University's executive officers.

                             October 20 - Provost Courant will address Senate Assembly at its second meeting.  Immediately following the Assembly meeting, President Coleman will introduce Georgetown University Law Center Professor David Cole as the guest speaker of the University Senate's Thirteenth Annual Davis, Markert, Nickerson Lecture on Academic and Intellectual Freedom.  Professor Cole's lecture is entitled, "Freedom and Terror: September 11^th and the 21^st Century Challenge."
