Faculty Governance Update to the Regents

Recent Activities:   September 29 - SACUA began a faculty opinion poll of AdvancePCS prescription drug benefit service that will continue throughout the month of October.

                             September 29 - President Mary Sue Coleman provided Senate Assembly with an annual state-of-the-University address at the Assembly's first meeting of the year. Also at the September meeting, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Timothy Slottow, Associate Vice President Hank Baier, and Parking and Transportation Services Director Pat Cunningham provided an update on plans to increase University parking.

                             September 30 - President Coleman, Provost Paul Courant, and the University's executive officers attended the annual luncheon for Senate Assembly committee members.

 

Upcoming Events:   October 9-11 - SACUA Chair Charlie Koopmann will attend the AAUP National Conference in Indianapolis that will focus on the topic of intercollegiate athletics reform.  President Coleman has provided the financial support for Professor Koopmann's trip.

                             October 20 - Provost Courant will discuss proposed faculty-student relationship and sexual harassment policies with Senate Assembly at its second meeting.  Immediately following the October Assembly meeting, President Coleman will introduce Georgetown University Law Center Professor David Cole as the guest speaker of the University Senate's Thirteenth Annual Davis, Markert, Nickerson Lecture on Academic and Intellectual Freedom.  Professor Cole's lecture is entitled, "Freedom and Terror: September 11th and the 21st Century Challenge."
