PRESIDENT’S SENATE ASSEMBLY ADDRESS - On October 14, President Mary Sue Coleman gave her first address to Senate Assembly.  President Coleman shared her views on the Life Sciences Institute, the appointment of Provost Paul Courant, the University budget, and the affirmative action lawsuits. 

REGENT CANDIDATES' FORUM - Immediately following the President's address, SACUA held a Regent candidates' forum that provided candidates with an opportunity to state their views and answer questions from the audience.  The following Regent candidates participated:

ACADEMIC FREEDOM LECTURE - On October 31, Law School Professor Catharine MacKinnon gave the twelfth annual Davis, Markert, Nickerson Lecture on Academic and Intellectual Freedom.  The title of Professor Mackinnon's lecture was "From Powerlessness to Power: The Uses of Academic Freedom."

PROVOST’S SENATE ASSEMBLY ADDRESS ' On November 18, Provost Courant will give his first address of the year to Senate Assembly.  Issues and concerns about recent changes to the prescription drug benefit will also be discussed.
