Faculty Governance Update to the Regents

THE UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN
REGENTS COMMUNICATION

December 2005

On behalf of SACUA and Senate Assembly, Chair Bruno Giordani would like to thank the Board of Regents, as well as President Mary Sue Coleman, Provost Ned Gramlich and Vice President and Secretary Sally Churchill, for the Board's luncheon meeting with SACUA on November 17.  SACUA very much appreciated the chance to interact with nearly all of the Board and felt that this year's new format of a luncheon meeting, rather than the traditional dinner meeting, proved to be an enormous success.

Chair Giordani would also like to thank the Board for the continuing opportunity each November for the SACUA Chair to address the Board on issues facing central faculty governance.  The Chair found it particularly gratifying this year to be able to report to the Board on a number of instances in which the administration has carefully listened and responded to faculty concerns on such issues as a flexible tenure clock proposal and athlete academic performance.  Finally, the Chair would like to remind the Board that the second round of Administration Evaluation Committee (AEC) questionnaire results will be sent to them soon.

SACUA Minutes and Senate Assembly Minutes are available online.
