Established by Senate Assembly according to Regent's Bylaw 4.06 :
...The assembly shall establish standing committees to advise and consult with the vice presidents of the University on matters within the areas of their respective responsibilities....
Purpose: To advise the Vice President for Research and to study all matters pertaining to research at the University of Michigan, proposing appropriate actions to the Senate Assembly.
Composition: 12 faculty members for three-year terms.
Procedures: Committee meets at least monthly during the academic year.
