Statement from Hanna Raithel

Candidate for Secretary

When my daughters were in High School, my family was looking for a place where we could spend time together and have some fun. We chose to become members of the Michigan Sailing Club, and this turned out to be a perfect choice. We have grown to cherish the wide variety of activities the Club has to offer, be it sailing, windsurfing, kayaking, swimming, relaxing, or socializing.

I am running for Club Secretary for several reasons. I can see myself as an efficient communicator between club members and the Board. I enjoy talking to members out at the club and discussing issues on the Club's email discussion list. I believe that membership input is important because members should take ownership of their Club and work together in making good decisions. As Club Secretary I would strive to collect input from members early in the Board's decision-making processes. If elected I would also look forward to the outreach aspect of being Club Secretary. I was the organizer of IDEA² Internationale Deutschgruppe Ann Arbor for several years. In this function I gathered a fair amount of outreach experience.

I am looking forward to a friendly electoral competition.
