Nevins Trophy at King's Point

Once again the Nevin's cup regatta at the US Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, NY brought together some of the best college sailors in the country. Saturday started off with little wind and four hours of postponement which was replaced by moderate wind conditions and little waves. The team excelled in these conditions with Chris Granger and Lisa Vandenbossche sailing FJs in A's, Ben Seppala and Erin Burke sailing 420s in B's and Dave Ellis in the laser division. The team soon learned, however, that even the best races can be lost at crowded mark roundings.

Sunday brought light wind conditions and massive quantities of waves. These conditions proved frustrating compared to the day before but the team still sailed well. Highlights of the weekend include Dave Ellis's 15th place finish. Overall the weekend was marked by moments of brilliance and moments of "not so brilliance".
