Michigan Attends a Frozen Timmes


The Michigan Sailing Team braved the elements at the Timme Angesten Regatta, held from November 25th to 27th at the Chicago Yacht Club. Michigan sailors included Christina Falcone, Erin Burke, David Altshuler, David Ellis, Lisa Vandenbossche and Chris Granger. Racing was delayed on Friday when four inches of ice had to be removed from the hulls of each boat. When racing finally commenced, freezing temperatues kept the sailors on their toes trying to trim frozen lines and avoid slipping out of the iced-down 420s. Saturday and Sunday were without wind of any sort but racing was still held. Michigan ended the frustrating weekend with 135 points in 22 races. A Division, sailed by Christina Falcone, David Altshuler and Erin Burke, placed 7th, while B Division, sailed by David Ellis and Lisa Vandenbossche placed 5th. The team looks forward to better conditions next year.
