End of Season


The team is pretty much wrapping up their season, and doing a great job!

The weekend of November 7/8, the freshmen traveled to Boston to sail the Freshmen Icebreaker, where they ended up 14th.
In Holland, MI, the Area East Championship team (pictured above) won the regatta by a landslide, qualifying us for a spot at the Timme Angsten Memorial November 27-29.

This past weekend, we sent three teams to Chicago for the Timme's Tune-Up at Northwestern, where we placed 1st, 5th and 10th out of 17 teams.

Alumni Regatta

The Alumni Regatta held yesterday, October 25, was a success. We had 8 alum come back to sail on a perfect baseline day, complete with light and shifty winds. First place went to Scott Pfeffer and Maria Falcone, second to Christina Cattey and Dave Altshuler, and third to Thomas Martin and Christina Baker. Also participating were Ben Seppala, Pat Burke, and Dom Piro. Thank you to everyone who attended and helped out, especially the University of Michigan Sailing Club!

Sailors Take 1st at IOR


The Michigan Sailing Team had a very successful weekend sailing in the Intercollegiate Offshore Regatta on the Long Island Sound. Skipper Blake Griffin and tactician Dan Morris sailed the boat to victory in the J-109 class, coming back to win after a DNF during the first day of racing.

October Update

The team is having a good season so far, with our new recruits taking first place at the Davis Cup in Iowa. The previous warm weather has been great for the team, as can be seen in the picture above from the Streufert Team Race in Minnesota.We hosted our 50th Cary Price regatta at Crescent Sail Yacht Club last weekend, it was a great success due to all the volunteers!

Welcome Week Events

The team will have booths at both the Rec Sports Expo on Sunday September 6 at Palmer Field and Festifall on Thursday, September 10 in the Diag. We will hold our mass meeting on Monday, September 14 at 7:30 PM in room 3302 Mason Hall. Come check us out!
