The Wisco Womens Regatta was a rockin time for the females of the MCSA. 24 Girls took Madison WI by storm, and consequently the general attractiveness of the city jumped 3 fold this weekend. One protest was filed, and two breakdowns. On Saturday, breeze was from the NNW at 7-15. Sunday started out at N 7-10, and increased to 15-20 NNE. Waves were intense, seperating the women from the.. real women. Overall, the event was HOT - 4 real. So hot in fact, that Wisconsin can not handle hosting another women's regatta for at least a year. See you next year, and congratulations Michigan for their victory.

REGATTA HIGHLIGHTS: The races were held at Lake Lemon, Indiana with 17 competing teams. The weather for both days was sunny with temperatures in the low 70's. On Saturday, the wind forecast ranged from 5-12 coming from Northeast. There were 14 races completed on Saturday which consisted of Windward-Leewards. Races for Sunday were postponed to 11:30 am because the wind factor was 0. During postponement Ultimate Frisbee, zip gliding, and tightrope walking was taking place. When the wind started to fill in at 11:30, 2 races were sailed to complete the 4th rotation. Congratulations to Northwestern in winning Hoosier Daddy and receiving the Bobby Knight Award. We would like to thank all the individuals who helped out at the Hoosier Daddy. It was their hard work which lead to a successful weekend.

REGATTA HIGHLIGHTS: This years Harken Clinic, sailed in a typical two division format, saw 11+ teams sail in two complete opposite conditions. Saturday, winds were out of the NW between 18-20 with gusts to 25. Sailors enjoyed drills and coaching in large waves as well. The temperatures were in the low 60s. Coach Brent Ostbye ran the classroom sessions while Kevin Jewett, John Porter, and Anne Porter coached on the water. After a full day of instense heavy air sailing and valuable lessons in the classroom, the group of largely beginner sailors were exhausted. There was a grill out after sailing which coincided with a debrief from the four coaches. Sunday, four races were scheduled for each division, a Windward-Leeward, a Triangle, a Harry Anderson, and a Trapazoid, but unfortunately the wind died early on and we were only able to sail the A division's first two races. After an extended morning in the classroom waiting for the wind to fill, all was abondoned and awards were given out around 12:30. The University of Wisconsin would like to extend a special thanks to Harken for their generous sponsorship of the event as well Mendota Yacht Club for their power boat assistance. Following is a list of the competitors as they would have raced, had the wind not died.

Michigan StateOctober 1-2, 2005Final Results REGATTA HIGHLIGHTS: Five rotations were run on Saturday off the dock of the Michigan State Sailing Center in 5-8 knots. 2 rotations were run on Sunday in 1-5 knots of breeze. Courses were modified Windward-Leewards and all races were held in FJ's. A big thanks goes out to our race committee, judges, MSU Sailing Center and volunteers for all of their hard work.
