SAPAC’s annual art show - rEVOLUTION - began as one very dedicated volunteer’s senior thesis. That first year was such a success, we’ve decided to run with it. Each year, NPA volunteers invite local, regional, and student artists to express themselves on issues of sexual violence, sexism, gender, and empowerment. SAPAC throws an inspiring and elegant reception to celebrate the opening of the exhibit. Past exhibits have included photography, paintings, mixed-media installations, fiberart, written and spoken poetry, jewelry, sculpture, music, video, and a wall-sized cardboard installation combining the experiences of all NPA volunteers. NPA volunteers team up with SafeHouse staff to coordinate everything from the advertising, curating, production, and execution of this show. At every step of the way, we try to bear in mind the slogan of this project: making art for change.
