SAPAC’S SEXISM IN ADVERTISING CAMPAIGN

DEAD… YET SEXY Previous Ad | Next Ad

Alberta Ferretti uses the images of dead-looking women in order to sell designer clothing. Both women in the ad have blank stares, tussled hair, and dark sunken-inn eyes. The woman lying completely flat on the ground looks dead. By using a dead-looking woman and another inactive model as a bystander in the ad, it portrays the ideal woman in terms of the utmost state of helplessness and passivity-death. This glamorizes violent images of women and endorses the idea of women as submissive.
