SAPAC’S SEXISM IN ADVERTISING CAMPAIGN

WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING AT? Previous Ad | Next Ad

In this advertisement, Diesel is p romoting voyeurism. In the background of the ad, people are watching sexual activity with binoculars. The ad is unique with the woman being sexually dominant over a man who appears to be incapacitated; however, with the model being a woman of color it further perpetuates the hypersexualized image with which women of color are often associated. This is problematic because it assumes that women of color always want to have sex, thus making it easier to take advantage of them when they do not want sex.
