  3. Digital Divide: Technology and Education
    1. Presentation and Discussion Facilitated by SMES-G (Kyla McMullen)

                                                               i.      The digital divide occurs between white and minorities in regard to access to technology and knowledge and skills about technology.  This divide contributes to achievement gaps. 

  1. Academic Divide: Stereotypes across North and Central Campus
    1. Brain storm
    2. Discussion

                                                               i.      Presentation of stereotypes (ex. NC people are nerds, CC people are social. NC people generate tangible results, CC people just discuss desired results)

                                                             ii.      It’s important for us to recognize that no matter our field we should not assume that any type of work is more important, difficult, or benefits our communities more or less.  We need to work together across fields and recognize that we all need and help each other with our individual work.

                                                               i.      Community Center is doing a toy and food drive, need volunteers to collect toys and food. 

                                                             ii.      Toys for toots tomorrow 12/2 3-7 at Trotter

                                                            iii.      Future professional’s academy having a party 12/28 3-6:30 in Detroit.

Coming here 1/14 and 1/15 to talk about writing techniques and need volunteers to plan a session.

                                                               i.      Need more people involved to help run conference, contact Tenaya or Chela if interested.

                                                             ii.      Make sure to submit your abstracts, we’d love to see what you all do!

                                                               i.      Bab’s tonight its free!  Located on Ashley St. next to Firefly.

                                                             ii.      Ice skating at Yost $2 on Sunday 12/3

                                                            iii.      Black Gold (about Starbucks faming practices) is showing next week at the Michigan theatre.
