SMS offers a variety of services to the University and Ann Arbor communities, including:

Mediation:

Our primary service is high-quality mediation for student disputes. Mediation through SMS is a free and confidential process where a trained mediator facillitates the development of a voluntary agreement between parties. To find out more, or to schedule a mediation, contact us.

Mediator Training:

SMS trains it's own mediators through a curriculum developed on the recognized standards for mediator training. We usually offer basic trainings once per semester, and seek to bring in mediators from other forums to conduct on-going sessions throughout the semester. SMS training is at no cost to the student. Communication & Dispute Resolution Training :

In addition to training our own staff, SMS provides instruction in communication skills and dispute resolution to other members of the community. In the past we have worked with Student Housing staff and the local schools. Contact us for more information.
