What Steve Rothwell does
- I'm the developer of waX.500
, an X.500/LDAP client (DUA) for Microsoft Windows (all flavors). It's
was part of the X.500 LDAP
project at UM. We give it (with source) away for
free. It is widely used here at UM, and in many
places in the U.S.A and around the world.
It has been used by many implementors of the LDAP
protocol to test their implementation.
- Along the way I became the kerberos for windows
guy at UM (the MIT version of kerberos).
- I made MIT's kerberos
for MS Windows work correctly here at UM and
maintain it.
- I packaged both waX.500 and kerberos with InstallShield to make it
easier for users to install.
- I wrote KrbCheck
to make sure kerberos authentication got installed right and to
diagnose and recommend solutions for the most common problems (to help the 4HELP
folks).
- (I'm not the only kerberos for windows guy. Allan Bjorklund
has developed Kerb95 which is an implementation of
kerberos with its own API. Also Bob Riddle, Andy
Adamson, Marcus Watts, Dave Detlefs and several others have done Windows
kerberos stuff too.)
- I am the guy who packaged (with InstallShield) the
Windows 95 Internet Access Kit, and 2 other
derivatives of that kit. That work has been taken
over by Chris Mueller.
- In a previous incarnation I was in charge of the MTS
message system and SMTP gateway,
with the dedicated assistance of
Zoe Gurevich,
Neda Gholizadeh,
Mike Alexander, &
Chitra Ramanujan.
MTS has been turned off, the hardware
sold for scrap, and the forwarding software turned off.
