The SigEp Puzzle Challenge Thingy
Think you have a sound mind? Prove it.
Welcome to the first annual SigEp Puzzle Challenge Thingy website. The competition will take place from Sunday April 14, 2007, to Sunday April 21, 2007. Yes, the week right before finals; Ramin is already done with school, though, so it's cool. To participate you must be a bonafide member or invited guest of the Sigma Phi Epsilon, Michigan Alpha Fraternity. Actually let's go ahead and rule out invited guests too. Recent graduates are ok too. Ok, if non-recent graduates want to participate, that's ok too. In fact, that'd be pretty cool. The following people are inelligible: Anish Gupta, Steven Allen, Chris Best. Please get a team together, sign up, and read the rules and schedule carefully. Send any questions, comments, or love letters to SigEpPuzzleChallengeThingy@umich.edu
Puzzles Rule
Puzzle Rules:
- You may use any resources you wish to help you solve puzzles, except humans outside of your team. This includes, but is not limited to, books, magazines, Google, Wikipedia, other internets, writings on the Rosetta Stone, oracles at Delphi, and things written on banners tied to the backs of airplanes.
- You may not seek, use, or accidentally recieve help from humans who are
not on your team. This includes, but is not limited to, trading answers with other teams, asking
professors for input, using Yahoo! Answers.
Violation of this rule will result in immediate disqualification of your team, and the puzzle challenge being totally ruined for everyone. Do not break this rule. - Puzzle answers will be submitted on the answer submission page, on a form which will be published when the competition begins. You must provide your captain's email and your puzzle password when you submit answers. Puzzle answers handed to a judge on a piece of paper, whispered into a judges ear, or sent telepathically to a judges brain will not be accepted.
- Do not just guess. If you submit enough wrong answer to cause us to suspect you are guessing, we will require that you provide a full explanation of how you arrived at your answer to get points.
Scoring(heyooo):
- For each puzzle you complete, you will recieve 10 points.
- The first team to solve a puzzle will recieve 5 extra points.
- The second team to solve a puzzle will recieve 3 extra points.
- Determining the final answer is worth 30 points.

Tips:
The puzzles draw from a wide range of topics, so it will be to your advantage to have team
members with varying skill sets.
If you are on stuck on a puzzle, come to the wood room between 7 and 8 to get help. If enough
people are having trouble with a certain puzzle, we may release a hint for it on the
hints page. There may even be an error in the puzzle that we didn't
catch, in which case we will inform you on the corrections page.
Remember to check both of these pages frequently.
