Location

The School of Education computing site is located in Room 3010 on the 3rd floor of the School of Education Building (SEB) on Central Campus.

The SEB has an array of computing facilities available for use. The entire site contains 78 Mac OS and 49 Windows workstations. The SEB is also home to the New Media Center (NMC). The NMC is a site with resources to help students complete multimedia class projects. It offers powerful computers with specialized loadsets, scanners, and video editing suites. The NMC includes a computer classroom that can be reserved for a single session or for an entire semester (Rm. 3021).

Special Features

Electronic Classrooms: The SEB classroom (Rm. 3033) is equipped with 25 Mac OS computers containing CD-ROM drives and AV projection equipment. The NMC classroom (Rm. 3021) has 19 Mac OS workstations with a projection and sound system for the room. Information about reserving these classrooms can be found on the Classroom Reservations and Software Submissions page.

Color Printing at SEB: Color printing is available at the SEB. The color printer is located behind the black & white printers and is available for use by all current UM Students, Faculty & Staff. Color printing is not included in the Basic Computing Package, and the cost per page will be $0.40 which will be billed to student or departmental accounts. Scanner Stations: There are several scanners available in the SEB and NMC. They are equipped with OCR software for converting hard copies of documents into electronic text format. These scanners are available for all Faculty, Students, and Staff to use during normal operating hours.

Video Editing: Video Editing: Digital, non-linear editing of miniDV, S-VHS or Hi8 video tapes using Apple's Final Cut Pro on three specialized systems. Other A/V software titles include Peak DV, DVD Studio Pro, After Effects, LiveType, and much more. These stations can export to any of the mediums listed above, and can burn DVDs and CDs.
