New information:

Announcing LabMan 2004:
We were surprised and delighted at the number of institutions that came forward and asked to be considered as hosts. It really shows the momentum LabMan has garnered over the past four years. We are pleased to announce that Eastern Illinois University has been selected to host LabMan 2004. Because they were among the first schools to come forward, because of their demographics of being a relatively small school and because of their central location vis-a-vis a majority of attendees, we think 2004 will be an appropriate year for EIU to hold the conference.

Doug Lawhead (cfrdl@eiu.edu) and Tim Wilkerson (cstew@eiu.edu) are the primary organizers for LabMan 2004 at EIU. All LabMan 2004 inquiries can be directed to labman@www.eiu.edu

Calling all LabMan 2003 Presenters:

This is the fourth Great Lakes Academic Lab Management Conference, held this year at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. The conference is also known by its short name, LabMan.

The University of Michigan is pleased to bring the conference to its Ann Arbor campus on Friday, July 25 and Saturday, July 26, 2003. (It is open to all, not just those in the Great Lakes region!)

Attendees will have the opportunity to meet their colleagues from other institutions who, like them, face various challenges in putting together resilient public computing labs. The conference is sponsored by multiple vendors who will be presenting their products during the conference.

The scope of the conference is wide and includes both the technical and the administrative. This year, we are attempting to emphasize this dichotomy to better present relevant topics to different sets of people involved in different aspects of lab management.

We hope the presentations will offer a broad range of topics appropriate and useful to administrators, technicians, managers, developers and front-line staff.
