- Terrific (B.F., 5-25-98)
One of the best regency romance books I have read! (S.B., 4-7-98)
One of the best romances I've ever read. I rooted the whole time for Nicholas and Eleanor. The plot was great and the tension and love was real. (S.K., 6-2-97)
This is the book that got me hooked on Jo Beverly. The others in the series are very good also, (Christmas Angel, Forbidden). Packaged like a traditional Regency but definely not one as you can tell from some of the readers' comments. Jo Beverly's recent historical Regencies simply have not been up to par with these older ones, I am so sorry to say, but I will still read every one of them in hopes that some of the old talent/thrills/tension will resurface. (M.F., 4-6-97)
personally I do not like it if the heroine gets raped, I guess call me old fashioned but I generally read romance novels to escape the harsh reality of present life. If you have to make the story original or even interesting a rape scene is not the go. (R.F., 3-5-97)
This was the first book I've read by this author. Frankly, if the rest of her books are like this one, I won't be reading any more of them! I was bored to tears. (C.G.I., 12-4-96)
IT IS NICE. (S.R., 10-7-96)
Having the herione raped at the beginning of the book was horrible, then not knowing who the father of the baby was was bad. Then to top it off the hero was sleeping with someone else for his country. This book was not romantic at all!!! I would never recommend it to anyone, ever! (N.M., 5-28-96)
OK, but not memorable, and not as good as some of Beverley's other "rogue" books. (E.P., 5-21-96)
It was not easy to find this book, but it was worth the effort! Characters were strong, intelligent, sensitive and honorable.
Tension was from circumstances, not love/hate tool. Definite keeper and great series from Jo Beverley. (M.P., 4-10-96)
Fascinating book with characters having enough dimension to stand out and speak for themselves.
This series of books is the best I've seen. (T.F., 3-27-96)
Couldn't put this book down. You will root for the hero and heroine every step of the way! (J.S., 12-20-95) Great twist on the standard regency
theme. (L.K., 8-30-95)
