The Sopranos started in 2001 as a dream of one man, Evan Scalzo, a former G-Men and Men’s Glee Club Member. His idea behind the Sopranos was to have an all-female a cappella group that was open to all members of the fairer sex at the university, and it was a plus that the members were all extremely talented and easy on the eyes.
MACFest 2001 was the first event the Sopranos sang at. The harmonious music that flowed from the lips of the members of the Sopranos was an instant hit! The world could not resist them. Women were envious and boys stared. Some drooled. Their voices were like angels. Snakes were charmed and grown men cried at hearing a mere second of their music.
Ever since, the Sopranos have been extremely busy spreading their music throughout the greater Ann Arbor area. Their first CD, Mob Ties, was released in the summer of 2005 and the Sopranos hope to release their second CD in the near future. The group’s affiliation with the Mafia can neither be confirmed nor denied.
