We are currently accepting job applications for Motor Vehicle Operator (MVO) and Clerk C. Training will begin this Fall, and we require a commitment through at least April 2009. These positions are open only to students who have a state or federal work-study award.

  Although SORC clerks are thoroughly trained, they must be able to use good judgment and problem-solving skills to tackle unexpected dilemmas.  Clerks work unsupervised regularly, and the manager is not always immediately available by phone.  Describe how you would respond in each of the following situations:

Scenario #1

  It's Tuesday.  You are busy filling balloons for an order that is due at 1:00.  At 12:45, someone comes in and asks you to cut them a 10-foot banner that they plan to paint over the weekend.  You know that you will not be able to finish the balloon order in time if you stop to cut a banner.  What do you do?

         

Scenario #2

  In the middle of a transaction, the cash register freezes and the drawer won't open.  You are unable to make change for the customer.  What do you do?

         

Scenario #3

  You are alone during a slow morning shift.  A man walks in, indicates that he has a weapon, and demands all of the money from the register.  Explain what you would do:
