Welcome to the online bus sign request.

SORC clerks are available to assist you during the times listed to the right. Just call 734-764-0436 or AIM "sorcclerk" during these times if you have any troubles with this form, or general questions about the bus sign advertising service. A few important things to note:

  • You will need to submit a separate request for each reservation. If there are multiple start dates or multiple sets of 30 signs, each of these is considered a separate, unique order. If you want us to put up 60 signs, even if they are simply duplicates of the same ad, you will need to complete this form twice.

  • If you wish for your signs to be used multiple times throughout the semester, you will have to do some additional legwork. SORC does not automatically keep the signs and set them aside for you. Please visit the Bus Signs page of this website to learn more about multiple reservations for the same advertisement.

  • Payment must be made by transfer of funds.

  • Each organization may have no more than two sets of bus signs per week.

  • For student organizations, there will be an additional step; SORC clerks will forward the request to the person listed as the authorized signer. That person will need to reply to SORC's email from their umich.edu e-mail account to authorize the transfer of funds from the SOAS account number provided.

  • The space rental cost of bus signs is:

OPTION 1: Sunday placement

Note: if a week is full, you can't have space that week, even if your reservation begins earlier. If, for example, you want three weeks prior to a full date, and then two weeks after a full date, you will need to place two separate reservations and submit two sets of signs (even if they're the exact same content). SORC is not able to retrieve all bus signs for later placement; logistically, this just doesn't work.

Acknowledgement of Content Requirements

SORC honors and enforces all University of Michigan's trademark and logo usage policies, including but not limited to:

  • The name of the department or student organization must appear on all SORC advertising materials in letters of appropriate size and visibility. 

  • The name of the student organization must be used exactly as it is registered with MSA, both on the contract and on the advertisements that are submitted to SORC.

  • Voluntary Student Organizations (VSOs) cannot use any University of Michigan trademarks on SORC advertising materials, including but not limited to the Block M, the split-block M, use of “University of Michigan” as part of student organization name, the “University of Michigan” wordmark, and the seal of the University of Michigan.

  • University departments and Sponsored Student Organization (SSOs) must meet University of Michigan specifications for use of the above items, and may not alter the Block M or any trademark.

  • If the organization is an SSO, it is the advertiser's responsibility to provide written or online verification of sponsorship before materials bearing University trademarks are submitted to SORC for placement. 

  • If someone from the organization submits materials that do not meet content or other requirements, the group is not eligible for a refund or dismissal of late fees to allow time to produce new signs that meet the requirements.

This form is a request only. Completion of the form does not constitute a contract with SORC.

A SORC clerk will reply via e-mail if your reservation is accepted. If space is unavailable, the clerk will e-mail you alternative solutions. Requests will be processed in the order in which they are received. If you have not received a reply from a SORC clerk within 48 hours, e-mail sorc@umich.edu. You will receive a copy of this email, but before you click "Submit" below, it's a good idea to print this page.
