| Digital advertising screens are a remarkably effective way to convey your message in full color to thousands of passers-by in the Michigan Union, Michigan League, Pierpont Commons, and several Campus Computing Sites. | ![]() |
Basic Description and Eligibility
Advertisers may reserve advertising space on over 20 digital screens around campus on a day-by-day basis. The minimum reservation is three days; the maximum reservation is one semester. Advertisers create their designs, save them as a .jpg file, and submit them to SORC staff before the deadline, and SORC Managers upload the artwork.
Reservation requests are taken online so that we may maintain a fair hierarchy. First-time users are strongly encouraged to read the entire contents of this page before submitting the online request.

Availability
Ads display for 12-15 seconds at a time, in random order. The frequency of exposure depends on the number of organizations that reserve space at the same time as you. You can reserve ad space for as many days as your budget permits, at least a semester in advance. Just design your digital ad (Adobe Photoshop is recommended) to meet the specs below and e-mail it to digital-ad@umich.edu.

Content Requirements
All basic content requirements established by SORC apply, most importantly
- The name of the student organization or department must be visible on all digital ads. Multiple student organizations or department names may be included, but at a minimum, the name of the organization that reserved the space must appear. Letters identifying this information must be at least 75 pixels tall.
- Contact information for the organization must be included. Contact information may include a phone number, e-mail address, and website, but must include at least one of these things. Letters identifying this information must be at least 75 pixels tall.

- Your organization must not violate any content, trademark or name usage policies.
Hint: Successful advertisements are those that are colorful, eye-catching, and concise. Most people are on the go, and they do not have the time (or attention span) to read a lengthy advertisement. Additionally, the ads only display for 12-15 seconds, which is not sufficient for people to read a lot of text. Stick to the basics: Who, What, When, and Where.
Deadlines & Placements
Digital ad reservations must be submitted at least 48 hours in advance. The person who completes a contract with you for the space rental is not usually the same person who uploads the ad. We need a little time to process your order. Please allow 3 days or more whenever possible.
Ads begin displaying at the stroke of midnight on the start date. Student Managers upload ads to a website that "pushes content" to all of the above screens. Student Managers are on duty between 12PM and 2PM on Sundays, between 8PM and 10PM Monday through Thursday, and between 3PM and 6PM on Fridays. Email the artwork no later than 7PM on two evenings before it is scheduled to start showing. Ads must be formatted correctly before this deadline, or placement may be delayed. Refunds are not granted for missed days of advertising due to delays caused by formatting mistakes or missed deadlines.
- If scheduled to start on Monday, submit by 7PM on Friday.
- If scheduled to start on Tuesday, submit by 7PM Sunday.
- If scheduled to start on Wednesday, submit by 7PM Monday.
- If scheduled to start on Thursday, submit by 7PM Tuesday.
- If scheduled to start on Friday, submit by 7PM on Wednesday.
- If scheduled to start on Saturday or Sunday, submit by 7PM Thursday.
There is no late fee for digital ads submitted late, but no refunds are granted for missed days of advertising.
