Glass Showcases

 

  PAID SHOWCASES: Put your posters in a place where they won't get covered within 10 minutes!  SORC drivers will place posters or flyers in 7 locked showcases on campus for a weekly charge.  Showcases are located in the Union, School of Education, MLB, School of Music, Dennison, CC Little, and Pierpont Commons.

	Flyers: up to 8½ x 11 inches
	Posters: 8½ x 11 inches to 18 x 24 inches

  FREE SHOWCASES: Your group can have free, exclusive use of one of two locked showcases in the Michigan Union.  Your organization is responsible for placement and timely removal of its displays.  Keys to the showcases are available at The SORC and must be returned the same day.  Each group is limited to two per semester.

Free Reserved Showcases

  Reservations for free showcases begin on the Thursday following the semi-annual Diag board lottery.  The lottery generally takes place the first full week after classes begin each semester.  

  Your group is responsible for timely placement and removal of displays.  Groups that reserve a free showcase but fail to use it will be charged a $10.00 forfeiture fee.  Further expectations are explained in detail on the contract when you reserve it.

  Hint: Successful displays are those that are colorful, eye-catching, and 3-D.  Each showcase allows about 4" of depth for you to use to your group's advantage.  Dimensions of the showcases are available at The SORC.  Consider using trophies, photos, and T-shirts instead of just fliers.

  Keys to the showcases are available at The SORC; you must leave a student ID or driver license.  You must return keys before the close of business on the day you take them.

  You may have access to your reserved showcase on Monday at 12:00 p.m., and you must remove your materials and return the key by 11:45 a.m. the following Monday.  If you do not remove your materials before the deadline, we will process the $10.00 forfeiture fee.  As the incoming group, please be considerate; take down materials with care and return them to The SORC.

Free Bulletin Boards

  Public bulletin boards are located on the 1st floor of the Michigan Union near Amer's Coffee House, on the ground floor by the elevator, and on the 4th floor by the elevator.  These bulletin boards are cleared weekly by Michigan Union staff.

  PLEASE DO NOT tape to walls, floors, windows, or doors in the Michigan Union!

 Paid Showcases

  To qualify as a "flyer," an item must be 8½ x 11 inches or less.  "Poster" size ranges from 8½ x 11 inches to 18 x 24 inches.  Materials must meet all basic SORC content and construction criteria.

  Each group may have no more than two postings in the showcases per week.

  SORC drivers will place all showcase materials on Tuesday evenings.  Materials are due by 10.45 p.m. on Monday.  You may submit materials on Tuesday as late as 3:00 p.m., but a $10.00 late fee applies.

  Space restrictions and an unanticipated number of large posters may dictate that some materials be omitted.  If this occurs:

	The organization whose contract was completed earlier will have priority.
	Your group's account will be fully reimbursed for the time you did not use.
	Contracts paid with cash or a check will be issued a credit voucher.

  Unlike other SORC materials, SORC drivers do not keep showcase materials unless you make a special request in advance.

  Space Rentals (this weekly charge includes all 7 showcases):

	Flyers: $6.00 per week for student organizations; $8.00 per week for departments
	Posters: $10.00 per week for student organizations; $13.00 per week for departments
