Table Tents
Basic Information Over 20,000 students, staff, faculty, and community members
enter University Unions every single day for lunch, dinner, meetings, or
studying. Now you can advertise
for your organization's events and programs on the dining tables in
three University Unions: the Michigan Union, Michigan League, and
Pierpont Commons. Availability The
SORC allows four groups to reserve advertising space on 6-sided acrylic
"table tents" each week. Groups
may reserve the space twice during lottery week, and as many times as
desired during the semester if spaces are available after lottery week. Student
organizations may split a set of table tents to share costs, but must
book the space under only both group's names, and submit the ads all at once
so it is clear to The SORC clerk whose ads are whose, and that the space
is being shared. |

Content
& Construction Requirements
All
basic content requirements established by The SORC apply, most
importantly: the organization
or department name must be clearly visible on all ads in letters at least
1/4" tall. Ads must be 4X6
inches or less. Ads that are wider than 4 inches or taller than 6
inches will not fit into the acrylic holders. Money saving tip: You can cut down an 8.5X11
inch piece of paper into quarter sheets to save money, but if you do this, the ads are 4.25 inches wide, and
they will not fit. (8.5 inches divided by 2 = 4.25 inches). If you choose to do this, cut 1/2-inch off the
edge first, and then they'll work. Cut as accurately as possible
(straight angles and corners). The SORC has a paper cutter for your
convenience.
Deadlines
& Placement
Organizations
must provide 300 4x6 inch table tents by Friday at 6PM for Saturday evening
/ Sunday morning placement. If,
for example, your table tents are scheduled to go up on Sunday the 14th,
they must be submitted by Friday the 12th.
Student employees of The SORC will place table tents only
on Saturday evenings and Sunday mornings; there is no follow up
route later in the week for table tents. Advertising areas include:

Custodial employees are advised not to disturb table tents, but The SORC
does not assume responsibility for table tents that are damaged or
discarded before the reservation expires.
Table tent inserts will be discarded in the recycling receptacle
when the reservation is complete.
Setup
Guidelines
The
SORC is responsible for inserting almost 2,000 advertisements every week.
This requires a several hours and three different drivers, so this
route is only completed once a week. If
you miss the Friday deadline, you have the option of loading the table
tents yourself, but you must do so onsite in three buildings; you should
expect to spend 4-8 hours loading the signs.
You must clear this with SORC, so you can be advised of which ads can be
removed to make room for yours! You
may also choose to load your own table tents when you sign your contract
(for a 10% discount); this decision must be made when you sign your
contract. If you miss the
deadline and end up having to load your own signs, you will not be granted
the discount retroactively.
